Sappy Video of Epic Sappiness

Us saying sappy things about each other while sappy pictures of us growing up go by, while sappy music is playing. One of my proudest videos that I've created :)

Where it Gets Real

I won't deny that it still sometimes seems surreal that I'm getting married. Two and a half years seems like such a short time to really get to know anyone, let alone fall in love. But it's true. When I get "cold feet" about it, I ask myself why... and the only reason I can think of is "it's such a big step, and one I hardly thought I'd ever take" considering I spent a good amount of my childhood and teenage years trying to accept the fact that I'm fat and unlovable by anyone but family. However, that is, without a doubt, the dumbest reason to second-guess myself, or Travis for that matter - this is his decision too.

The wedding gets more real as I see it coming together - when I can see actual, physical pieces that will be in the wedding. These pieces are usually small and have been spread out - but I get the feeling things are going to be falling into place a lot faster this summer.

For example:

This may be the only picture of the table that I will upload until after the wedding. I don't want to give too much away ;-)

That's right, this is what will be the cake table. The one that has a series of gears beneath a glass top that are rotated by what seems like a miniature steam engine - and in turn those gears are rotating platforms that the cake will be on.

This was one of the first ideas I came up with when Travis first mentioned having a Steampunk wedding. This was way before he ever proposed, so it was great that we already knew what we were doing when he finally did! But given that this idea has been around since the beginning, it's really close to my heart, and I'm so grateful to the builder for allowing me to have such a great piece at my wedding, and for the rest of my life!

That's right! After the wedding, this will turn into the coolest coffee table you will ever see!

Travis and I completed registering at Bed, Bath, and Beyond yesterday! Our registry number is 12258187, or you can just search the registries for "Brittany Klopfstein".

We've also "registered" at thinkgeek.com - it's a wishlist and you can find it here.

I'll be getting the website done this week - you can see it so far here. It's really, really, not finished yet, haha.

Mom and I also went to see the florist the other week. I was going to see if I could get a mock set-up of what the finished product might look like at the wedding so I could show you all, but I get scolded a bit for trying to ruin the surprise, haha. So sorry! There will be TONS of pictures after the wedding! You just have to wait till Novemberish!

Actual Wedding Updates

Honeymoon plane tickets have been purchased. We're not allowed to know where we are actually staying, haha.

------

All of the groomsmen are in order (and now know that they, in fact, ARE groomsmen). We've decided that they are all (including Travis) going to be wearing black tuxedos w/ tails, top hats, and possibly some other fun stuff.

So that list of groomsmen is now: Mark (best man), Dan, Vincent (my brother), and Shane.

The list of bridesmaids are: Myra (maid of honor), Alys, Sam, and Mallory.

What is funny about this... Sam and Vincent will be walking together. What is funny about that is.... the first time Sam ever came over to visit, Vincent hit her car, haha. It's just too funny, they think it's funny too.

------

Travis moved into the apartment about two weeks ago. I've started moving some of my unnecessary furniture, like my bookcase (w/ books) and DVD case (w/ DVDs). I also have a shelf unit and I think I'm also going to attempt to take over my vanity/dresser. I currently don't keep any cloths in it. There are 6 drawers and 3 of them are empty. The other 3 have random costuming, make-up, and accessories. I'll go through that and probably throw away most of it.

------

Right now I'm working on putting together a list of songs for the cocktail hour/reception. I'm also going to be working on remixing a file of Lord of the Rings music for when bridal party and myself are walking down the aisle.

Also, the invitations and website are on my list of things to-do. Travis and I are starting to plan for going around and registering at places. At least Bed, Bath & Beyond and Target.

Sooo... if you watch that, God bless you.

As it's 5am when I'm posting this.... I'm going to attempt a 3 hour nap. This is a bad idea. I know it's a bad idea.

Update on Flowers/Colors

burgundy roses
I don't have much to talk about currently - as I said before, we're mostly just paying for things right now. A few check-in's here-and-there, but everything is on the roll for the most part.

This entry is covered in pictures of flowers. I'm not going to say much about them, as they are just google images I found. My mother gave me a copy of the contract with our florist (Kevin Ford at Ford-Ellington Floral and Event Design, Ltd.) too look over, and I'm so excited about everything I'm reading!

Orchids
So I went and google-searched images of some of the flowers, colors, and whatnot that it sounds like he's talking about in the contract. So I'm not saying that anything here is exactly what will be at the wedding, but I like what I'm seeing! The colors are phenomenal and I can already smell how pretty the entire venue is going to be! To say the least, I'm super-excited!

--------

We also have been looking into getting an ice sculpture, a luge to be specific. I mentioned a watermill before I realized that a luge is different from a fountain, haha. I've never experienced an ice sculpture luge so I didn't realize it involves a person pouring a drink into the top, the beverage running through, then being poured into a glass at the bottom.

Brown Roses
In my head, if I haven't already described it, the watermill would sit in a "lake" of the beverage, which would siphon through a pipe of some sort. This pipe (of some sort) would loop over top the mill, pouring the beverage over it and causing it to turn. Repeat process. Then guests would full their cup by holding it under the falling beverage.

The style of my bouquet
It's the most extravagant, insane idea I could think of when my mom asked me what I wanted the ice sculpture to be.

As it so happens, my mother talked to the ice sculpture people (I'll get you that link when she tells me who the company is) and they're capable of doing a watermill luge - the mill wouldn't move, because with a luge - it would involve a motor and that's just... unnecessary. Then the beverage would pour out... somewhere. Not sure, I was just told about it this morning.

Anyways, I'll give you more updates on that as they come along. Needless to say, I don't know if I'll stick to the watermill idea, since I feel like I was mostly joking to begin with. It could be a gear, since it already resembles one, as my mother pointed out. She's totally fine with keeping it as a watermill.

Willow Eucalyptus
Orange Lilies
I'll consult Travis, but I doubt he'll have any opinion besides, "Whatever makes you happy, dear." Which is every girls' dream... but mine.

----

Okay so maybe that was more updates then I thought originally, but these are things I just talked about with my mother this morning.

----

Oh, and we're thinking about doing something like this:

Not the boat or... anything in that picture really... besides the mustaches on a stick. They would be "favors" for everyone... something fun to give guests something to help them feel like they "fit in" with the decor.

---

Speaking of which, I'm going to be working non-stop for the next week and a half on getting my new portfolio site up, which will also involve a page (or two, or... five...) about the wedding. I'll post links in this blog, of course, back and fourth. The website will have a video of Travis and I that I've been trying to work on for forever, a description of Steampunk page (full of links and pictures), a page on how to prepare for the wedding (dress code, etc...), registry, countdown, RSVP area, etc... I'm excited about how it will turn out!

---

Hope you've enjoyed this week's update, haha!
